Publisher's Description:

JavaRa will check if your computer has the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE). If the version you have installed has been superseded by a newer version the program will download and install this newer version for you, by running Java's update program. It then allows you to remove all possible older versions of this program. This will ensure that the security of your computer is enhanced and extra space on your hard disk is created.
OS Support:Windows 2000/9x/XP
License:Open Source

*May have to give this one a try!
I always found the Sun Java Updater, running in startup, to be a PITA and leave it unchecked in my MikeLin Startup monitor.
Removes old versions?
That may be worth the price of admission!
If you don't clean up the old files Java parks on your drive, it accumulates by the ton in short order.

Hello dbarrow

I been using/beta testing JavaRa since April (1.04 Beta) its a sweet little program, updating to a new version is breeze, it does remove the older Java versions (Found and removed: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_06) I'm using Java6.10 Beta),and just to say: it works..

Does that get rid of all of the older prior files and whatnot that i have missed when updating Java? Or does it just get rid of the ones that it's replacing say if i was to use it now?

Hello DeeDee

It removes all the older version from C:\Program Files\Java: Sample jre1.6.0_05.04 or jre 1.5. etc. up until the newest ver.is installed.

A beta program from a known mfgr is usually safe enough, but I usually install to a bench box to make sure nothing weird happens and I always make an Acronis Image File first also. But I have use Beta OS and SP's many times. I ran a Beat of Vista for 6-8 months and never saw anything off color. Now a beat from an unknown company is another story.

Just keep in mind that 'beta' software is 'a work in progress'.
In a worst case scenario, beta software can hose your system.

I have never had that happen though I have had some buggy programs I uninstalled, but I use Acronis, Microsfot and vendors I trust.

I tried this out last night and have to say, I'm impressed. I thought I'd cleaned out all the old versions and leftovers, but watched as JavaRa truly and very quickly did the cleanup. :)

Putcha brave hat on, Sista. :D

Downloaded and no problems, apart from an estimated 17 pop up windows prior to installing :D

I used Java uninstaller, to remove 6.5 Version first, and I am surprised how many Registry entries, Java left behind.
