OMG face it windows vista was a mistake, Microsoft won't admit it but why do you think windows 7 is coming out so quickly?

Gee, what was the title of this thread? And what is the significance of the fact that Intel continues to use XP on 80,000 of its computers? All of the Vista bashing just does not bother me any more. For those that never try Vista or roll it back to XP I say - its your loss. I'll enjoy it and be ready for Windows 7 while you are still having an affair of the heart with XP.

I'm looking forward to windows 7. Its based on Windows Server 2007 which i've only used breafly at myself but is amazing. If you have specific apps you have to run, graphics tablets, Emulators for old N64 games etc. Vista is just useless, okay windows 7 will have he same problems with out dated software but at lease it has a chance of being stable as they are removing all the bloat out of it. But whats the downside??? The start menu is going, and were getting a mac style thing.

Dudeking, I wouldn't count a lot of bloat out. There will still be a lot of stuff there. From the peaks of screen shots I have had its looking like Vista but a little slimed down. I have talked to a couple testers in Microsoft, and they told me they aren't sure if it will be ready for 2009. They have just got a test version not long ago, I think it was a couple weeks ago that I spoke with them. The first public beta won't be released until they are sure its stable. I would think that maybe late 2009. I know there was a lot of hope for mid 2009(I was one), but I would rather scarafice release date for stabliity. I can't wait to get it, and for it to be released in its RTM version. That means a boom for my shop:D

And, if a Mac is that great and impresses you so much why not just go for the real thing instead of Windows?

I was in the middle of setting up Windows Server 2008 when I had a server emergency (so long server HELLO MONEY :D) that needed to take my "spare".

Got another one on order BUT all I can say is IF Windows 7 is even a REMOTE kin to Windows Server 2008 (which is really Vista PURE - the one that closer relates to what we were testing Vista in beta vs the RTM that was released).

AND if you LOVE VISTA- and Windows 7 remains true - YOUR GOING TO GO GOOGLE-EYED, SLOBBERING DELIRIOUS over Windows 7. I know that I am having NO reluctance to move to Windows Server 2008 (if I can keep a server for more than the setup time grrrrrrr LOL)!

I keep checking my Technet Plus board for first downloads and product keys      :D

I'll probably check it out when there is a public beta or RC, but last time I tried reporting bugs I was ignored. :(

I still prefer Gentoo for my desktop and use Vista on my notebook to test my patches for Thunderbird to see if they work in Windows. ;)

This thread reminds me that I never checked out Windows Server 08. I think I get it for free through my college.

You got to wonder why, if Intel is loading Vista on PC's being sold, it is not converting its internal computers to Vista. According to the article I read, it was due to the fact that Intel did not see sufficient benefit to justify the expense. As been said on this forum before, many PC users do not see the benefits of Vista to warrant the time to make the conversion. It is not a case of whether Vista is good or stable enough but a cost/benefit analysis.

Because just think what would happen if intel came out and said right we don't want vista on any Intel system. #1 They would probably get sued or something and loose loads of business as people wouldn't use a company being so idiotic.

And its not intel that puts the systems together its HP and companys like that who would be able to do something like that.
