Problem With MP3 Download

Downloaded The Joker fre mp3 from this site. Would not play on any of my usual players, including Windows Media Player 9. It would play and got message box saying something was wrong with my sound card, in use by other application, or no sound card installed.
Thought this ridiculous so i took an audio CD and put it in CD-ROM and windows Media Player played it with no problem.
what is going on here? I have never had problem with my sound card and have had PC since Nov 1998.
Windows 98se.

FALSE ALARM; FORGET IT: SORRY...should have looked and tried more things.
File DID play on later version of WMP....BUT , it was the WRONG SONG ANYWAY.
Can't win. Will try U-Tube next.
