View Full Version : Question about downloads.

When I start a download sometimes for a few seconds I would have speeds much higher than normal, around 500 kilobites per second. after that it will go down and stay constant at around 220 KBper second. I'm just curous about whats going on. ISP's bandwith throtteller takes a few seconds to have an effect?

I've experienced that quite a few times. I think your "delay" explanation is accurate.

I've noticed it as well and wondered why (not that I'm complaining. ;)). I've seen mine be over 700 Kbps but it's usually at around 150 kbps after a little while.

wow Pi, that is over 4.5 times faster, I just get a touch over twice the regular speed.

I'm curious what each of you are using for Broadband. When I had satellite it was even more noticeable than what any of you are mentionig and it would always slowdown much more just before the download was finished.

Interesting because I have DSL also and I don't see the spike up then down...as I said it was really noticeable with Satellite.
