I'm not sure if it was Grisoft purchase or what but I find eWido useless these days. Does anyone know of another ONLINE spyware scanner we can use to replace this as there are times we need online scan ability because we simply cannot install anything in screwed up pc, or using dialup to update is an all day affair.

Trend Micro
BitDefender
Don't know for sure that they do both virus and spyware. I think Symantec and maybe McAfee have on-line scanners.

Thanks Tony I use Bit Defender anyway for virus...maybe I should check out Trend Micro as they were working on doing both a while ago. I stopped using them because scan never completed or wouldn't start or something.
OK Trend Micro now has a separae online spyware scanner:

Rich,
Are you getting "IE (or Ewido) has encountered an error..."?
If so, I have been experiencing the same thing and did start a post on it. And it's been happening since the Grisoft purchase.
I haven't posted this on Ewido's forum, but I should be able to today. As suggested, Trend and Kaspersky are equivalent choices.

No Seth, I am just finding all it pulls out these days are cookies and as I said Spybot found coolwww.search, Hitbox, My Web Search and about 5 other more serious examples of spyware.

If this is true, then something is definitely wrong. The Adware you listed is very basic. Ewido can find and remove them with only a small portion of it's signatures intact.
BTW- I've posted on the Ewido forum regarding the online crashes.
Flea,
I'm a member or regular visitor of many professional malware removal sites. These professionals recommend and often rely on Ewido, so the Ewido/AVG merger is BIG news.

Seth thanks for the reply, only saying that since I will have to edit my tuts and so I guess will everyone else, I am not too happy becauce then one has to remember which tut has that the ewido word in it. Trouble is that when a victim say he ran AVG we are not going to know which one he means without further information.
