Strangest freakin thing. Turn on my son's pc and music is playing, popular songs like from a radio station or something, I went to startup but don't recognise any programs which may be playing music in the background and there is nothing in the system tray. When I open and play of the music programs on his pc, you hear both sounds together, the music program and the sound from the unknown source both with equal volume, how can I track don this unknown source of music please?

Same thing over and over?
Any internet activity going on?

If it's the same thing over and over, it's playing an mp3 or wmv from somewhere internal.
Look in SOUNDS and see if he attached one to a Windows sound, which can be done.

If it is a streaming audio, it could be some corrupted streaming program or adware malform that came from some download that plays streaming music.

Maybe he is intentionally trying to drive you insane!

Looks like it Doug, whenever I disconnect from the net, music stops. What's next? Run an adware scan?

Try this...

CTRL+ALT+DEL

Look at the processes.

Sort list by CPU order and see if you can find the
app (filename) that's playing music.

End Process on suspected filename to verify it's
the troublemaker.

Do a search on the filename to find out what folder
it's in or what program it's associated with.

Simple, just click on the CPU column where it says CPU.
