WOW is all I can say folks. It is 1PM and I had to leave and there are still 12 or so in the room...it has been wild all night as we have helped many people with pc problems from removing a p2p called Bearshare I have never heard of, to microphones not working, providing soundcard drivers for Win 98, building new pc's and so much more, This could be the busiest Paltalk Chatroom I have ever seen in either KH oid the old BBS and it is so true that when you get traffic, it only builds traffic.
In residence were Rich M, Rob S, Dan, Kelly, snowgoose, Phelyx, Nick,
June, Lina, Cdn Girl, Annie, Photolady, Crazy Computerman, Steveie, Allheart, Lawrence, Jcampi, myharddrivisata, Dee Dee, Loop, and some Paltalk visitors as well. I feel like I missed a few too!
We were the number 2 tech support room most of the night and there was never really a silent moment. All in all I think everyone would agree, a thoroughly enjoyable night and it's a shame you all could not have been there!!!!

I'm starting to look forward this Wed. nights for this event. We need to get more and more users to join in. It would be neat to have the top room for the night.

Good Evening All, The paltalk session closed abruptly unanounced with at least six people still present.

I do feel that a specific mention of closing should be mentioned simply as a matter of politeness rather than just pulling the plug on the room.

Great session otherwise, some very interesting people present with interesting ideas.

Look forward to next time.

How did you go with your memtest86 John?

Cheers, Lawrence.

Lawrence,

I have to take blame for closing the room abruptly :(

I clicked on an Admin setting about closing a room - I was looking for a "help" topic and blame it was gone!

Won't do that AGAIN! or at least without telling people the room is closing. :focus:

Good Evening Dan, as penance you are designated as bomb disarmer in the bomb squad for a few eons.

That was a good session, I think it was just about dead anyway, so no harm done.

No Rich I was still there, (rusting away!)

Cheers, Lawrence.

I could swear you had just said you were leaving which I took as a cue for me also as I had to get up early the next day.

I think I, not Lawrence, left just before you did, Rich.

You're not losing it yet, at least not completely. But keep taking those
baby aspirins .. ;)

I was about to say goodnight and the room dumped...thought it was a Paltalk glitch...but yes we always let the room know when we're ready to shut it down for the night.

We also had the pleasure of having Terri Kline (tlynn) join us briefly to
exchange hello's in the text box. Both written and oral conversation were
going strong during her visit.

Terri, if you wanted to speak, all you had to do was "put your hand up," and
we'd have allowed you to get a word in edgewise .. ;)

Hope you'll join us again soon.

I agree the room was a hit on Wednesday. I like the idea of opening the room a bit earlier. I am always learning new stuff everyday (and I am a computer tech). I will be there Wednesday.

Good Afternoon All, a good discussion subject for the next session might be "Neuro Metallic Ferric Oxide" if I can remember what it is!

I'm sure Rich will be able to elaborate! LOL!!

That idea of opening earlier sounds very clever, might ease "dribble" running into keyboards from sleeping KH persons heads on their keyboards.

Certainly was an interesting session there last week.

John did find a memory problem using Memtest86, it certainly is a magic memory testing program.

I understand Memtest20007 is slightly different and operates through headphones on whatever is between the earpieces, must be remarkable technology involved.
For some reason I can't get it to run without any errors! (it doesn't run at all actually, must be bad software!!)

Yes I was there at the death Rich, (as far as i recall) I was getting ready to leave though.

I suspect we will have a few interesting items to mention next week, not telling what they are!! (forgot!)

(don't tell Rich, but I did say I was leaving the chat but got interested in a bit more conversation there as far as I remember)

Cheers, Lawrence.

I thought that it's great what you are doing to help people...I came in late and got the information that i needed for my issues and even learned a few things listening to the people talk...

A member here directed me into the paltalk room and if it weren't for that member i wouldn't have gotten my issues solved so quickly...I thought i read somewhere that you will be starting this weeks session early is this true and if so will it be at 8 pm est?:)

DeeDee, I do belive that the room is going to be open at 8pm eastern time. Please do come out and show your support for the room, we want to keep it alive.

I will definately be there this week again.:)..I found it a very interesting approach that you have taken to helping on a more individual basis...I'd really like to see it more than once a week but i understand that the people who run the room and even the participants probably work and have families and i know that i was in there past 1AM i think...:)...I really did enjoy it and would hate to see it go...I have not seen this on other forums that i have viewed...

I just noticed the Paltalk Chatroom sub-forum. Great! :D

Thanks for listening to the suggestion to create a separate forum for the chatroom.

KH and the chatroom rock! So do our administrators and moderators!

Thanks, guys.

Cindy, if you click on Forum at the top of this page, it will take you
here: http://www.kickenhardware.net/forum/

Under About this site, our mods have added :

Paltalk Chatroom
A Place to Discuss all matters relevant to our very special Paltalk Evening
Chatroom including topics, scheduling and special events

That sub-form appears on KH 24/7, just like any others.

If you want to find out or discuss something about our chatroom, that's
the place to go from now on. For much older chatroom posts and past
history, I guess you'd have to go to Search.

Hopefully this will attract visitors, new members, and non-participating
members to our chatroom. It's the place to post if they are having a
problem finding the room.

It was my understanding that tomorrow the Kicken Hardware Forum Paltalk would open one hour early. The email I received today listing the topics doen't reflect the time change for this week.

Chat room is open Wednesday only:
USA - open 9 PM Eastern to 12 AM Eastern

I got one more question for the admins. Is the room going to stay open later if it is busy like last week? I think it should. It was good, and hopefully drum up more people joining on here on the form and joining us in the chat room as well.

Well the email states 9 because it is boiler plate because there are so many things to remember, I only change the top and I forgot about that....I will send one more correcting that!

Rich, I was watching the Spanish soaps and came back to the computer 45
minutes ago. Read both your emails, never noticed the 9 pm, although I was
aware of the 8 pm opening this week.

Damn, and I took a heavy dose of aspirin today....the aches and pains went
away but the aspirin did nothing for my brain cells.

Watch your P's & Q's, Rich.....looks like you are going to be on your own.
My nit-picking days may be over. ;)
