Good Afternoon Everyone, interesting session, very pleasant, so many nice people all in one place at the same time, Momma was missed though.

BM graced us with here presence but had no mic, what a shame!

John is still waiting for his replacement memory to arrive, Cindy's mic wouldn't work and we were unable to help, another fellow had a machine going into hibernation and nor rewaking properly, that sounded a memory problem, and Junes Laptop was an interesting challenge.

Tony's drive data recovery sounded positive, and some the chics that were there sounded really nice.

Steve is sending his wive for a proxy second honeymoon to Australia, that sounds like fun!

Some interesting problems were discussed and Rich misdirected June on how to make a CD!!

There was a game of guess the bios entry code and password for a laptop which was really exciting.

N3 has the best mic clarity with his homemade mic.

CDNgirl really is nice to listen to.

Vivienne once again had the experience with different machines hands on and was terrific.

Seth was very quiet, but typed significant assistive material.

Overall it was a lot of fun!!

The Lunar eclipse was a bit of opposition but most frosty viewers returned with frozen fingers.

Steve was incanting enough to make it snow, clever fellow!

Dee appears to be really switched on with the techo stuff, must be an Australian!

Went well into the early hours US eastern time.

I have not mentioned many of those present but you understand I have a rust problem.

Cindy used the excuse of having no mic to be able to get out of explaining how to load files to a netsite. I understand that instruction will now be next week.
So if you have any questions in this area, save them for the next session.

Cheers, Lawrence.

Yes another big night indeed! We were #2 or #3 all night in Paltalk Tech Help Chatrooms. Noticeably missed Lina but Elliot made it this week along with Lawrence, JohnCcampi, Grumpy,Dee Dee, Allheart, Rob S, Steveie, June, Donna, Seth, Photolady, Annie, Loop, Cdn-Girl,Joe, Viv,Snowgoose, TonyD, and all in all about 20-25 active participators. Of course Nick and Dale were noticably missing (Dale was busy typing answers on KH at the time and failed to deliever any of those messages in person)!
TG we finally fixed the mess Lawrence made thinking the cd June made of hdd Regenerator wasn't working because it was an iso and wasting everyone's time downloading a program to burn the iso she didn't have to cd, but then we all needed the comic relief anyway!
We tried hard to solve Cindy's problem of mic not working on Paltalk and finally had Tony and Cdn-grl offer to send her a new mic to end this which was really great camaraderie the rest of you reading this who do not partake are missing!
And we labored to solve simon's problem of return from standby with freezes which may or may not have been caused by ram.
You folks not joining us are making a big mistake as this thing is coming to life and doing a lot of good things. I would bet every week every user attending walks away learning something and has at least one new program to try.
Too bad these last 7 years have been so anti science and education, we all could use the mental exercise here in US!

Sorry, I fell asleep and did not awaken until 1:30 am. I'm going to have
to start taking an afternoon nap on Wednesdays .. :(

My loss .. :(

Thanks, Lawrence and Rich, for your summaries. I appreciate your grasp of
the technical aspects of the chatroom discussions and ability to summarize
them correctly. IMHO, makes a difference.

Glad to do it as I felt Lawrence misinterpreting a thing or two!

Huh? What did I miss?

BTW Lawrence. I was only quite because I was busy and didn't have my mic. I'll deal with you next time lol.

Just kidding mate. You're ok in my book.

Mommalina, The comic relief quote by Rich was at least, in part, true!! You have to really take the boys out of the men here and read between the lines!

I see Rich is here and viewing this thread. I retract any and all posts in reference to the summary of Paltalk given by Rich. To the best of my knowledge all statements made by the aforementioned are/were completely true and totally unbiased. My remarks in reference to the summary given by Lawrence, of course, remain the same!

Good Morning All, well for what it is worth I still think my summary is better than Rich's! LOL!!

Reference to Junes problem, it seems the regen program completed satisfactorily.

This leads to several options including the "No" or forgotten admin pasword.
I have found some interesting "free" software on the web for discussion at the next session, but anyone that is interested, checkout a unique "Password cracking" program called "orphcrack" looks promising.
http://pcsupport.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=pcsupport&cdn=compute&tm=67&f=10&su=p284.8.150.ip_&tt=4&bt=0&bts=1&zu=http%3A//ophcrack.sourceforge.net/

Edit, for info I am playing with the file "ophcrack-livecd 1.2.2" and for standard windows systems it gives interesting results, for dual boot systems it is somewhat different. LOL! (read between the lines, this program is PFM!!)

This is a 600 meg ISO file that creates a bootable live CD based on Slackware Linux and appears with a nice GUI.

So far I have run it on several different machines with no success, I might have to sit down now and read the destructions on how to use it.

It scans hard drives for data involving Passwords and is supposed to display it.

It would make an interesting discussion item which encompasses the ever increasing need for this kind of software, so if anyone is interested in seeing what they make of this program we might be able to compare notes about it at the next session.

It could be an extremely good toy in your toybox.

Invariably I usually simply reload windows when this problem arises.

I can imagine BM and Allheart sitting on Seth's bicycle there with Seth swearing and pedalling away in frosty conditions. But the big smileys on the bicycle wheels look a bit strange! LOL!!

Could be worse, imagine if Dan were pedalling!!

What if a viral code was in a smiley? They would all have the flu!!

Momma, you can come on my bike here, it is 36 degs C currently, I will even let you pedal!

Cheers everone, Lawrence.

That's a cheapshot, Rich! lol. Nice try getting me on Paltalk. :) Actually, I'm quite thrilled that Paltalk has been taken off life support and has rebounded with a flourish. You guys deserve an "atta boy" for caring enough to not let your brain child go. I specifically took the time for you on Wednesday nite to give you the lowdown on Bsafe for parental control, since I felt it was an area where perhaps I had a bit of experience from using it myself. I've explained before that I would be there for Paltalk if at all possible. Wednesday nite I have family obligations that are of quite high priority and cannot be neglected. I have personally suggested many times in the past to move it another nite, but obviously Wed nite is the one that works the best for the majority. I respect that, but all the same, that leaves me out :( :( :hurt: :hurt: I'm doing my best (believe me) to try to squeeze in a cameo one of these Wed's. Please know you've got my support in thought, if not in person.

Good Morning All, for what it is worth I think of all you chaps as extended family and an odd squabble is to be expected from time to time.

I think Nick is one of the nicest fellows here, it would have been nicer if he had been Australian but all people can't be perfect!

Good on you with the Mic there PL, well done!

I do hope Allheart has got her mic functioning, so the next session should be good.
I think we might even be able to talk about the ridiculous boot system that Vista uses!
How is it possible for a female to understand all that techo stuff!! (even us males have problems!)

I do expect Rich would be able to expound why they had to make that Vista boot system so different!
(if he remembers that Wendesday follows Tuesday there!!)

We may have to discuss Junes Laptop problem a bit more and Tony may have to describe how to retrieve lost data off hard drives. (being the resident expert) LOL!

I am quite sure Dan will expound why it is so neccessary to delete restore point data before getting too involved with viral removal in infected machines.
The magic "I'm still here" virus stuff has to be experienced to appreciate some of these areas. The university stuff with the "No you're not" training concept needs some experience to appreciate.
So the "Why is it so" and "well I'll be buggered"! technical terms might also be mentioned along with others like the PFM term.
I am sure some people are aware of these high-tech terms but many are not!

I understand Seth will be bringing his bicycle and be giving rides for the ladies freely.

So it should be a good evening! (gee some of those birds sound nice on the mic!!)

See you all there, maybe Casey's delightful daughters may drop in, and Momma will most definitely be threre too!!

I can't wait to see how Rich's report of the session is distorted next time!!
He must have worked for CNN at some time!! (LOL!)

Are we starting early again Rich? ( I Know this is a complex question for you!)

Cheers All, Lawrence.

Nah, sometimes I think he must have worked for Faux News. His critiques
and those of Faux News can be as fair and balanced as the Leaning Tower
of Pisa. .. ;)

Just kidding, Rich .. :)

No Lawrence, my mic is nonfunctional but Tony offered to send me one, no, actually has DEMANDED my address to send me one. I believe his comment was... Just DO IT. Don't give me any grief!ROFLMAO! :D I of course complied and did so expidiously. I Thank you Tony!

I think we might even be able to talk about the ridiculous boot system that Vista uses!
How is it possible for a female to understand all that techno stuff!! (even us males have problems!)
Lawrence, :D If that comment means what I think it seems to mean..... Well, let's hope I DON'T have an operable mic by Wednesday!
I do expect Rich would be able to expound why they had to make that Vista boot system so different!
(if he remembers that Wednesday follows Tuesday there!!)
I suspect Rich will deal with this barbed comment!

I can't wait to see how Rich's report of the session is distorted next time!!
He must have worked for CNN at some time!! (LOL!)
And that would mean.... you were an anchor for Sky News?

I just thought I would touch on a few of your more glaring remarks..... Cindy
