OK well we are on the roll and if you haven't joined the refreshing all New Paltalk Chatroom, you are one of the few on this forum.

NOW 8PM Wed night EST-USA Time let's talk new computer builds, Service Packs of Vista and XP as we would like to know what you have found. And Spam is getting to be more and more of an issue. Let us tell you what we know and please if you have something that works we would love to know!

To participate:
Download and install the free PalTalk software--> www.paltalk.com (http://www.paltalk.com/)

Click the 'Chat Rooms' tab, click 'Rooms' icon,
click 'Computers and Tech' category,
click 'Computer Help/Advice' subcategory, scroll down the list,
click 'Kicken Hardware Forum Wed Live Tech Chat".
(Note: the room won't be listed until opening times above).
The chat window will open, and you'll be in the room
(you can now add KH to 'Favorites').

To talk, press and hold CTRL key- release CTRL key when you're done talking.
IMPORTANT: If someone is talking (a mic icon will be next to someone's name),

OR, click the "REQ TALK" button (raised hand) to request speaking rights,
and a @moderator will guide you in, OR, you can type in the text window at any time,
just like other instant messaging programs.
[If your mic or speakers don't work, open Sound Properties

Good Afternoon All, apologies for tardiness in relating the events of the Wed evening session.

There was an excellent turnout, PL graced us with her presence but left early.
Some interesting subjects were covered, but one notable one was a fellow with a pretty decent machine that was running like a sick snail, all kinds of suggestions were put forward, including oiling the wires to let the electricity flow faster. None were successful. Probably another situation where Vista was too good for the machine.

Rich's audio was still operating perfectly, which was quite remarkable, especially in view of his Vista system!

He did mention that so far as he was concerned a good system only needed a decent A/V system and SAS, and that he saw no need for a firewall other than that provided with the MS system.

The US presidential debate appeared to absorb much of the actual participants attention and quite obviously was high in the area of interest.

It is so strange that so many people in the US don't bother to even vote!

Anyone not voting here receives a fine, unless they can prove they had reasonable excuse, such as being dead, or out of the country for an extended period etc.

I had an appointment and left early, so someone might fill in the missing activities.

The overall mood of the session was one of quietness and didn't appear to have the usual spontaneity, however as usual was very enjoyable.

Dan had discovered his alter ego and had logged in under two nics, he had obviously found a true friend that would converse with him with similar intellect, so it was interesting to see this pair conversing to each other and having a wonderful time, asking high tech questions of each other, like what is your name and stuff like that.

Several of our girls were not present which could have been part of the reason for the sombreness.

As Edward Dunlop mentioned when he designed that great balloon, "The Hindenburg", his words were "To be part of history you need to think big"!

Question for this week. Has anyone noticed that Rolls Royce jet engines turn the opposite direction to those made in the US by Pratt and Whitney or General Electric.

So everyone here has been to the airport and watched aircraft starting up, which way do Rolls Royce engines turn? (Looking from in front)

Thankyou all for a pleasant chat sesion.

Cheers, Lawrence.

So sorry I haven't been able to join you lately. Most of the snowbirds are getting ready to back north so there has been an explosion of social events going on here in Florida. Last week there was a farewell dance on Wednesday. See, when you retire, you get to party in the middle of the week.
