View Full Version : Spell Check not Working

Whenever I attempt to use vbspell for spell checking, I get an empty pop up box. It just sits there until I close it [It has much more patience than I do :) ]

W2K, M$ AntiSpyware Beta 1, corporate firewall. Also occurs with M$ AntiSpyware off.

It has nothing to do with you. Thats one of the bugs I am working on to resolve now.

An interim remedy for spell checking until vSpell becomes available is to download ieSpell from http://www.iespell.com . After it is installed, it can be invoked by clicking on the ABC check icon in the upper right hand corner of the Post or Reply windows. It is no Spelling Cow but it can avoid annoying spelling errors.

I figure if the first letter and last letter are the same, same number of letters in the word, and it makes "smoe" sense, the ole brain will figure it out LOL:cool:

I figured you would have your own personal kind of spell check!

Got anything for Firefox? The ieSpell seems to be only for Internet Explorer.

Crap I never use that either...you could try Dan's patented spell checker!

Rich, I only use Firefox and can't use that spell checker either.

So I proofread very carefully; or I write my reply in a new email message in Outlook Express, and then cut and paste it into the KH reply box. It's mostly typos that a spell checker picks up for me.

Reread Dan's post, his spell checker is one everyone has with them!

Rich and Dan, no to that method. Currently, that's how they spell check and proofread drafts for instruction manuals and legislation.......need I say more?

Lina,

If you re-read my post you should not have any problem associating "smoe" with "some".

You mind mentally corrects the spelling and you read the word as it is intended to be.

Unfortunately, I do not. I suggested ieSpell because there is access to it in our vBulletin software (the abc checkmark icon).

I do not use Firefox that much so I am not very familiar with their extensions. Have you looked at the Firefox plug-ins?

Sometimes it helps to use a retarded browser. :)

RAK, Terry, and Dan: Being dyslexic, I was able to decipher almost everything you guys typed......but I'm struggling with pi$$ed. No matter how I rearrange the $$ and the letters between p and d, the only urge I get is to go shopping.;)

Your fault, Dan. :frown: Just like a man, won't take responsibility. You chose to communicate by substituting $$ for ss.... what did you expect?
