HP printer turning OFF

This one had me going nuts! All of a sudden my HP 6540 took to powering off after awhile making printing on a whim a pain.

I tried looking at my USB settings - removed the power off function there. Nope, darn printer was still off line after 20 -30 minutes.

Went into the "basic" printer settings and nothing there looked out of the norm.

Then I noticed an obsure Advanced button that brought up a Configuration tab and there that little pucker butt thing was - Automatically power off printer! ! !:eek:

Duh, disabled it and powered the printer back on - let's see if THAT fixes my problem.:D

My week for same useless crap. On new install of XP I went to enable HP laser to be shared and somehow took it offline...every setting looked fine and I struggled with that for over an hour. Finally I cheated and restored with Acronis image file I had just made anyway. I don't know why but whenever I have a printer get offline, I never manage to get it back without restoring.
