Latest Malware Cleaners

Someone asked me for recommendations on spyware/malware cleaners. What are the "latest" recommendations on these cleaners?

I have gone back to Spywareblaster and Spybot having recently had an incident where Windows Defender and Pest Patrol were rendered useless.

If I can make the chat meeting tomorrow night, I will be interested in hearing what disabled Windows Defender and Pest Patrol. Also, I am interested in hearing Dan's opinion of Nod32; I believe that he started using it last week.

Windows Defender clearly is not what the original version Microsoft Beta Spyware was. Pest Patrol simply didn't find the rootkit, it wasn't detroyed by it. Spybot found it and removed it, and was the only one that did. Adaware did not find it either.
