For those of you into repair and building, this is a handy do-it-yourself design that does not require a lot of time or money and may be really handy.
Add a few accessories like volt meters, temp sensors, and maybe a PSU tester to have everything you need.
I think I would invest in a slide-in HD rack to make it easy to change drives.

Sorry for replying to an old topic, but do you think that it would be worth building over the summer? Seems interesting and looks like it would cut down the time required to swap & test components.

Be careful of slide in hd racks and make sure you get them all from same mfg.
There are some that look the same bur are not.

I still would like to know how many of you here have a Test Bench and how neccessary is this for a Tech?

I don't have a test bench, but sure would like one. Some day maybe I'll get one together.

I guess I should be asking which components are needed for such a bench?

Before building a test bench, I'd suggest getting some tools and learning how to use them:
- Volt-Phm meter
- PSU tester
- POST PCI tester

Had this on my list for a while now, thanks for the reminder!
