I received 2 of these yesterday, anyone got any idea why or what's the situation with this? I mean I am learning to fix pc's but I did not expect to get jobs this soon? :D

"Dear Sir:
Greetings! I got your email ID through internet.

I have a Panasonic NV-MD9000EN Digital Video Camera
with DV in/out Terminal and Analogue in/out terminals.
Can I connect this cam to computer without IEEE 1394
port? and capture video.

If I can connect it through USB, please suggest cable
to be used.

IEEE 1394 is very costly in Indian INR, please suggest
some other low cost video capture port or cards.

I would heartily appreciate your help in this regard.

Thank You.

From India?
Looks like you may be on a spam mail or phishing list.

Be careful about listing email addy in forums.
While our new Vbulletin software is more secure, the old PHBB got mined and caused a sudden increase in spam.

Rules of email:
One secure account for people you know and trust ...
for broadband, your Comcast.net account
and... still filter heavily and only give out to "trusted" contacts.

One "registration" account, to use for anything where you have to sign up for something and receive a reply email.
Use any of the free web based email providers

One "junk mail" account, to use for all other comunications , people you don't know, anywhere you suspect they sell the mail lists.
Hotmail, Excite, Yahoo, and Netscape all have pretty decent spam filtering and you can adjust them to high levels.
Easy to kill them and get a new user if it suddenly becomes a spam target.

I do have Yahoo's Spam blocker activated and do still get an occasional spam every now and then but what's surprising about this email in particular is why would this person be asking me for help with pc stuff?

Verify email address, and who knows what other info he has about you....
Or, just one of those poor confused souls over there who haunt bbs forums.
I would not respond, and, view the header information of the email to trace where it came from.

This is what I am seeing in his email:

"Boggula Paul" <palb0000@yahoo.com>

Shouldn't I respond simply asking him why he emailed me?

I would ignore it...

2nd rule of email:
NEVER respond to any unsolicited email!
It only confirms a valid email address and verifies your identity if someone is looking to probe you further.

I heavily filter my email and if you are not on my "contacts" list, it routes straight to the trash.

There is also a current spam method going around using blank @ and CC: @ lines to bombard you with email not addressed to you. If you "view" the Properties\details in OE or Outlook, you will see all the header information with the from: and to: lines as well as the path.
You can create an OE filter to off these to the trash.

I simply deleted the email without responding, I am just curious as hell as to why this type of email was sent to me and it's nagging at me, oh well, should have this out of my sytem by tomorow.
