Let's say I am printing an article but instead of printing the entire article I only wish to select the lines or paragraphs I really need, is there a way to do this? I tried using the ctrl button but this does not allow me to select different parts of the article.
only way I know of is to copy the lines or paragraphs you want, create a new document, then paste them into the new document.

Why not just hi-light the section you want to print and then choose "selection" before printing?

That is what I do but I can only select one consistent string of words. I don't think you've understood what I am asking so let me try to explain it better, let's say I have this paragraph as an example:
"A PC is a general purpose tool built around a microprocessor. It has lots of different parts -- memory, a hard disk, a modem, etc. -- that work together. "General purpose" means that you can do many different things with a PC. You can use it to type documents, send e-mail, browse the Web and play games.
In this article, we will talk about PCs in the general sense and all the different parts that go into them. You will learn about the various components and how they work together in a basic operating session. You'll also find out what the future may hold for these machines."
Now let's say I only wish to print certain lines from the above 2 paragraphs for example:
1] A PC is a general purpose tool built around a microprocessor. It has lots of different parts
2] You can use it to type documents, send e-mail, browse the Web and play games
3] You will learn about the various components and how they work together in a basic operating session.
As Kern has mentioned above, the only way is to copy and paste all 3 lines into say a blank email or notepad or something then print, what I am looking for is a way to print just those 3 lines without having to do 3 separate sets of copying and pasting, hope this explains things better.

Your right, I didn't understand what you were asking. I also don't know of any way you can just print the words you want and skip over the ones you don't.
You can either copy each individual group of words and then print or you can copy the whole paragraph and delete the words you don't want and then print but I know of no way to skip over unwanted words.. Sorry.

I was just thinking that in the same way that you can choose any "files" like mp3's from a group using the Ctrl button that maybe there is a way to do this with words.

Your example allows to select whole files from a list, not parts of an individual file. You cannot select the first verse of one song and combine it with the lyrics of another without a sound editing program. I have never seen an instance, printing, copying, etc., where you can highlight portions of file for an operation without using some sort of editing tool.

I was simply commenting on the principle of using the Ctrl button to select any mp3 files out of a group of files for copying and pasting purposes.

Mike,
Using Ctrl and selecting "non-contiguous text", as it is called, works just fine in Word- as well as many other text editor apps. Not in most browsers though.

yes, the only way to print a certain line or paragraph is to copy n paste the words you want to print. paste it into another document. - thats common sense.
