View Full Version : About Those Few SPAM That Get Through

SpamAssAssin successfully gets rid of most of my SPAM
but each day about 3 or 4 still sneak through. The ones
that sneak through often look like the quoted text below
with a link at the end which is always bogus. I viewed
the source code and it does not contain any hidden
links or webbugs.

Here are 3 samples of the bogus links..
EldonBrycintey.4t.com
geocities.com/MyruorRuizMcle
m37m.com

Since the link is no good and the message is unreadable
what is what is the purpose of such SPAM?

Is there any way to get rid of these?

Yeah Dan and I have the best spam filter going. We seldom register our regular emails anywhere and find the efficiency of our "del" key on keyboards, far more efficient than the logjam caused and the feeling of our friends hurt, by the "latest and greatest" spam killers!
The last time I used a spam killer, I lost 3 friends and the spammers got thorugh just fine as I crawled on broadband. No thank you just practice "safe computing" get to work with your "del" key regularly, and you'll be fine.

Oh, but you have never met up with SpamAssassin. :)
It runs on the server of my Westhost webhosting service. I have it configured
such that all SPAM tagged email gets forwarded to a separate SPAM Email box
on the Westhost servers. All regular Email goes to my regular Email box. I retrieve my
regular Email to my local PC using Eudora. Then every few days,
I use a web-based email client to check my SPAM Email box looking for
legitimate Email that might have been mis-classified as SPAM. So far, it's 100% SPAM.
Takes just a minute or so to look at the titles & sender, then I just delete all that spam.
No SPAM or virus attachments ever get onto my local PC.

On average I get 20 SPAM/day and about 3 get through to my regular
Email box. That's for 3 different Email aliases that I use. I could decrease
the SPAM threshold in SpamAssassin, but then an occasional legitimate Email
gets tagged as SPAM. If I could figure a way to use SpamAssasin or the
Eudora Filters to get these last few, I'd be 100% SPAM FREE with no false
detections.

You know I have said that before in the past as well, in fact I have never had enough spam to satisfy me. Is everyone aware that not everyone who sends you and email ad, is an axe murderer.
Over the years I have found some excellent services from advertising email.
I found the only service that ever successfully collected bad checks for my photo studio that way. Not only did that save me a fortune, but I turned them over to a big former employer and received a great commission for doing so.
I found the best resource for genuine ink cartridges through an unsolicited advertising email. most of you know what I think about refilling cartridges or buying generic ones so this was a big help.
Having worked in the retail business for 30 years, I really understand the need for advertising, and that is what helps keep the country going. My wife and I split the Sunday newspaper with no problems. She takes the news and I take the ads... I bet one Larry Kline thinks somewhat the same way with the deals he finds, but I don't know.
I have a part time job installing Lifeline Care Partner Communicators for seniors with mobility problems, and that came to me over unsolicited email and brings in $10,000 a year income with no investment at all.
So go ahead and choke your systems with all kinds of exhausting software but if any of it gets through, could you send me some as I don't get nearly enough "spam", myself, and I am looking for some new money making opportunities you want to delete without reading.

Check your hotmail account I bet it's full of spam. Mine is, and still delete them every day.

I don't have time to sit and read ads. Not interested either. I was a salesperson also, and I hate pushy sales people, one of the reasons I don't read all those ads.

Can't identify the sender.
I don't think it's traceable, since each SPAM Email is unique judging by
the headers. It's never from the same source so I'm pretty sure the
headers are all bogus. Many times, the headers indicate the Email
came from my own site using Email addresses that don't even exist
at my site.

Is yours a paid for hotmail?

And you just must not be holding your mouth right, Rich. :D

I don't block the senders email address or their user name, I block their ISP.

No free email!

Actually... I get far fewer spams on my "free" email accounts.. which include my subsctriptions and junk mail... than on my Comcast private account.

I get more on my free emails because I use that one for when ever I sign up for some oddity. My personal account I get no spam.

I use Hotmail for almost everything to keep my isp clean, and I get almost nothing on Hotmail either. I used to so i can't explain it.
