I don't know how to put this but here it goes:
I have a small network that I setup with four computer in
my home that works very well. I had no problem setting it up and most times when there is a problem I can figure out how to fix it. But I must admit I really know very little about networking or the finer details of setting one up or even fixing one. Is there a preferred book or place that I could get or go to that I can increase my knowledge of networking? I would like to know what I am doing when I change something and why. Any Ideas?

My first steps into learning networking were Google searches and a few visits to Barnes and Nobles. I never bought a book, just skimmed a few chapters here and there while sipping some java. Networking for Dummies had a few good chapters on some basics.

Try your public library first.
Here's two that I read and found useful for general knowledge.

* TechTV's Guide to Home Networking, broadband and wireless.
by Jerry Lee Ford

* PC Magazine Guide to Home Networking
by Les Freed

Some libraries are quite dated on their material, which tends to present a problem for many computing areas. However, the basics of networking still is the same, so a dated networking book may still prove quite helpful.
