I just finished s build using the Antec 2650 case with a 350 watt Power supply. as I was making last minute checks of floppy, cdrw, dvd drives and fans I noticed that the power supply fan was not turning. I cannot tell if it ever worked as I never got this far with this case. It does a three pin fan connection coming out of the PS that I did not connect because I have two other cases like this one which I never connected the connector and they work fine. Am I missing something or do I change the power supply? I did turn off an alarm when I first booted but that was because the connection it was monitoring had no fan connected. I'm almost sure this thing isn't working right but wanted to see what anyone else has to say. I haven't run it long enough to get it hot but I don't want to either. My problem is the power supplies I have are of the older version without Sata connections. I guess I could get along without that.

Like I always say: You learn something new every day....
Our best-selling power supplies are now super quiet thanks to Unique Dual Fan Technology-the exhaust fan starts to spin only when the power supply reaches certain temperatures, while the second fan is thermally regulated.SP350 (http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=26350) - 350 Watt

Most of the PSU fans I have seen are connected inside the PSU, had to solder connectors to replace them.
If it has an external, connect it and see what happens.

This Power supply has two fans, one in the front and one in the back. The front one runs all the time but like it says on Antec's site the exhaust fan starts to spin only when the power supply reaches certain temperatures, while the second fan is thermally regulated,, I still haven't figured out what the fan connections from the power supply is. It might be fan control or something like that. It doesn't do any good to hook the connection up because I have to have it turned off in the cmos or it will give a warning whenever the fan isn't running and it seems this fan doesn't run often. I keep touching the outside of the Power supply and it hasn't felt hot yet. I guess the front fan is enough to keep it cool. The CPU is running at 96 F and the motherboard at 87 F with the side panel off. I hope I'm right that the fan isn't suppose to run until it gets hot.

Right, I had the same question with a recent purchase of an Antec psu.
I read the paperwork that comes with the psu and it explained how the
second fan (internal fan) always runs but the first fan (fan you see from
outside the case) only kicks in under heavy loads. It's normal.

Thanks Pete,
It took me a while to come to that conclusion but I'm glad you verified what I thought. It was a mystery for a while...

I've seen this with other psu's also and not necessarily thermostat controlled but the second fan does not work unless a three pin connector from the psu is connected.
