Acronis Ver 9 buils 2323

I started Acronis TrueImage. Where is says, "Pick a Task", I clicked on Recovery.

I then setup my Archive Location
checked Restore Specific Files or Folder
checked Original Location
Selected File or Folder

At this point when the list of Directories showed, there was NO plus sign next to the Directory names.

I need to get down to the file level. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Sam

Sam - Try selecting a new location to see how it responds. I just tried it in TI-9. Here's what I did:

Recovery, Next
Select image to recover file from, Next
Restore specific files or folders, Next
New location, Next
Select a location where you want to put the restored file, Next
Drill thru to find the folder and take it from there.

Tony: It acted the same way. What I did notice is I have 2 files for that backup. Apparently, when a backup file gets too large, it creates another file. These are the files:
C-BkUp-05-03-06.tib (This is the file I specified in the task "Backup")
C-BkUp-05-03-062.tib

In the Recovery, if I choose the 2nd file (-062.tib) and go through the same procedure as specified in my original post, I get the "+" sign and can expand the directories. However, every time i try using this file, I'll get a message there are errors in the recovery.

When I choose the 1st file(-06.tib), I do not get the "+" sign.

Are you trying to restore an image of your hard drive, or are you trying to retrieve/access a specific file/folder from within an image? If you want to browse and image for a certain file, you need to plug the image- which means to mount the image as a hd, then you can browse it via Windows Explorer or MyComputer.

Very good Dale!
Others, always choose the first image if there are multiples and you want to restore from it or use a file from it. bear in mind that isn't Acronis making mutiple files, Windows has a size limit beyond which the program has to make a second file.

Dale:
The answer to your question is "both". There are specific sub directoris and files that I want to restore. There are also some files I just want to look at to capture their properties. For Example: before I reloaded windows, I had a Desktop Icon directly into the Calendar of MS Outlook 2003. When I clicked the Icon, the Calendar came up. I, off hand, do not remember how to set up the URL so I'm trying to find it in the BACKUP (.tib) file.

Sam,
You cannot restore sub directories or system files or such from an image using Recovery. You have two choices: restore entire hd partition or plug image and go get files, copy them, and paste into existing Windows hierarchy- replacing current files.

Doug/Rich:

I "Plugged" the tib file. It created a temporary drive (h). After Autoplay was completed, I tried to open a directory (Documents and Setting). It did not open. Do I have the wrong idea of what "Plug" does?

Sorry I haven't a clue what that means...Just open TI and choose "mount image" and then open files and copy.
