Yesterday I got it in my head to change cases for my Opteron. It was running good without any problems and the CPU Temp at idle at 97F. It was just that it will soon be one of my regular used computers and I had installed it in a very cheap case that I purchased from Newegg.. Since I had a new Antec case that wasn't being used at the moment I decided to move everything
into that case. I was a little concerned about XP but everything turned out okay. The installation went well and to my surprise the Antec case lowered the idle temp 10 degrees. It now runs at 87F which was a little extra bonus....

That's good news. :)

What kind of ventilation does the new case have? The airflow around the CPU has a large influence on the CPU temperature.

Antec cases come with a huge fan in the rear and a smaller one in the front, so they seem to have good circulation.

Antec cases come with a huge fan casey that would be called a 120mm fan. :D
