We had a full house this week in our KH Computer Help Desk Wednesday night chatroom. Al Dom, or resident PalTalk expert, said we were rating third in the PalTalk Computer Help List. That's great for a once-a-week room! We opened at 9 pm and closed at midnight...most everyone was tired, and Lina wanted to watch her 12 am Korean soap opera.

For a short while, Seth joined us as SethCubed. (I knew he wasn't a square!)

That Blind Guy (Robert) showed up after a long absence. Remember him? Nice guy. He's developing a game that's a combo of a board game and a dice game. Check his web site: http://members.bellatlantic.net/~polish99/

Rob Cohan, who lives in San Diego, honored us with his presence. He promised to join us on the KH forum someday soon (promises, promises, promises!). Rob is going to attend--would you believe it--Comedy Driving School to avoid points on his driving record for a traffic peccadillo. Only in California! Hmmm. I wonder if the comedians are bi-lingual or perhaps even multi-lingual.

Doug, Dan, rbob (Kern), Al Dom, Rich M, Photolady, Tonyd (aka Kelly), Mr Puns (N3BQA), and Annie C29 were there. Hope I did not overlook anyone. A few strangers browsed but did not want any computer help.

Among the subjects discussed or mentioned:

- Hard drives
- AMDs
- pulled-out pins
- a processor exchange (by Rich?)
- Windows Defender
- Rich M and Adam (Smokey) going to a computer show
- Sam Ceccola's computer problems
- Prefetch
- firewall
- warranties
- motherboards
- standardization
- cookies
- safe mode, when to use it
- f8
- Ewido
- power supplies
- CrapCleaner (Rich never used Advance, clicks Applications, unchecks both cookie boxes)
- System Restore (turning it off when cleaning)
- Adam (Smokey) and his 22d birthday
- best microphones for chatroom sessions

And we expressed our pleasure with the additional members joining the KH forum and the increase in and the quality of the posts there!

That's all, folks! Join us next week. Bring your computer problems/solutions and your sense of humor. We are always good for a few laughs.

I have to tell you we are all noticing the advance of both the KH Forum and the Paltalk Chatroom lately.
Tyhe addition of many new members to the forum has given us a somewhat unprecedented amount of new posts daily and that can only get better. And I cannot help but believe we now have some of the best tech support available on the internet, even for this small group.
The Paltalk Chatroom, for the first time in years, and it wasn't long ago we were thinking about cutting back to a monthly Chatroom, has been expanding and improving and the whole experience has improved greatly,
since we made it for tech support and eliminated the political stuff and side issues we often would get trapped in. So I suggest all of you who may have had other reasons to avoid it, try the chatroom again, it has finally come of age, I think! I believe one of the thoughts we carried forward from the old regime, was the idea that it was there for anyone to do anything, and like many other thoughts from our recent past, that too was an inappropriate idea. Funny but the cleaner we make the break from our past, the better this whole experience on KH becomes. It seems the very thing that acquainted most of us with each other, is also the very thing that was preventing progress. Go log in at the BBS and what I mean is so evident as we have grown so far beyond those days, by having the freedom to be able to!!!!
