Interesting.
They should have included Ewido's AntiSpyware.
I also would have liked the test system to have been loaded with keyloggers, trojans, worms, and dialers. I bet the test results would have been very different if they had done so.
I've seen much more thorough tests which ranked Ad-Aware near the bottom. I'll search for them later and post with my finds.

Well you can tell that is BS. Windows Derfender is completely useless. I think of it as the "placebo" of antispyware programs, and you couldn't give me Spy Sweeper, Spy catcher or Spyware Doctor as I think they are all spyware.
I just saw incredible results for Spybot I posted in a thread moments ago where eWido shockingly did little Seth. I also felt a month ago when I had a rootkit problem, eWido did nothing, it ate Defender, and Spybot removed it. Unfortunately it kept coming back but the only one that could actually remove it was Spybot.

It seems that different tests will often show different results.
Microsoft acquired Giant and ruined there antispyware.

Comparing 'spyware removal' programs is like comparing police departments for how well they do at finding the crooks after you forgot to lock your doors and turn on the alarm.
Where the security industry should be concentrating effort is keeping the stuff out to begin with and building better locks and alarms! Perhaps they enjoy the continued employment and profit potential of not fixing that problem.
You just don't see comparison reviews of products telling you they secure your system like a bank vault so you don't need a 'remover' program after the fact.
While AdAware may fair well to mid range in the 'removal' arena, I think they would do better to market AdWatch as a stand alone and preventative security application that places a giant padlock on your system.
I could care less how AdAware performs.
With AdWatch running, AdAware has little if anything to do and scans with 0 result.
Vista may start to get the M$ security house in order and many of these programs might dry up and vanish after it comes out.

I've considered this myself.
I'm always skeptical of a business that's self sustaining.
