I downloaded Vista Beta 2 last night.Itg was a lengthy over three gig download but they do give you a 10 PC
key. It will be a couple of weeks before I install it but at least I have it on a cd and will be able to see what it's like...

eTrust is offering a free one year trial (http://www.my-etrust.com/Microsoft/vista/default.aspx) to Vista Beta 2 users.

I like Vista, and I'm currently writing tutorials for it. You're right about the size of the download; it took hours on DSL.

Why are you wasting your time on tutorials - the end product will be TOTALLY different depending on which "version" you decide on.

I personally HATE the beta version. I am hoping M$ gets their act together and finally realizes that some of their cr @ ppy software gui is just plain fugly.

I don't like the fact that you can't move the address bar in the Explorer, you have the dumb layout for the progams listing that opens up individual folders within the menu listing, and the stupid menus require you to jump through hoops to make simple selections.

I am going to keep on XP as long as possible - maybe just jump to the next version like I did with ME.

Then there is always Linux Desktop - REALLY looking at that as an alternative. Back to the KISS principle.

But that is just my .02 cents. I like to have an operating system that works FOR me not against me.

I haven't installed it yet. M$ was supposed to be sending me the disk this month some time cause a friend gave them my name and I signed up. "still waiting on disk to arrive" :frown:

But what I had planned on doing was install this on another of my computers along with the other beta's; IE7 and Office 2007. I want to see how nicely they play together.

Vista comes with IE7, so they "play" well together, and MS Office 07 seems fairly stable and works with Vista on my machine. No crashes so far, but some tasks take much longer than they should at times.
