Having a problem with Outlook, version that comes with Office XP (original edition). The only message you get is: "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem ersists, restart OUtlook. You can't make any changes to the calendar or rend/receive email.
MS kb 304863 says this is because the original version had a max file size of 1.82 GB, which is where this particular account is; exactly at 1.82 GB. The article says Office XP, SP-1 will correct the problem.
Tried to install SP-1 - received Error 1328: Error applying patch to the file C:\ConfigMsi\PT109.tmp. It ahs been updated by another means and can no longer be modified by this patch.
MS KB says this is a problem with upgrading from an Administrative disk. The guy has the Admin disk and it's legal. His company went out of business. He's left with the Admin disk and using it on his old company's computer.
So it won't allow me to upgrade his Office XP without removing files from the Admin disk that MS thinks are newer than SP-1.
any thought on getting this thing upgraded?
thanks
