Windows Media Player 9 - page cannot be displayed

I've seen this same problem on 3 PCs this week where Windows
Media Player 9 starts up in the Media Guide mode and you get
the "page cannot be displayed" error screen.

Did microsoft recently break their own product by changing
the old link that version 9 is looking for?

On my home PC I upgraded to Windows Media Player 10
and that resolved the issue.

Don't know. I always turn off that annoying option.

What started this issue is when I delivered a malware cleaned PC and
the complaint I got after I left was that he could no longer listen to his
favorite radio broadcasts via a couple of sites that streamed the audio
using the windows media player. He mentioned getting script erorrs of
some kind.

When I delivered the PC I do recall seeing the "page cannot be displayed"
error when Media Guide was selected but I couldn't figure out why that
was suddenly ocurring.

I was just thinking, is it possible that Microsoft's latest update/patches
have broken certain websites that utilize the Windows Media Player?
I know that MS has given webmasters a certain deadline to comply with
the their updates but I don't recall when that would take effect.
