FREE Program ID's locked files.. WhoLockMe
http://www.dr-hoiby.com/WhoLockMe/
------
Ok I tried it.
Installs in less than 2 seconds and now my Windows Explorer
has a new option (Who Lock me?..) in the context menu when I
right-click on a file.

It seems to work on..
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Cookies\index.dat
by listing...
explorer.exe
Ypager.exe
Eudora.exe

If I right-click on a non-locked file nothing happens
at all. That's cool.

HOWEVER, the main use I figured I'd use this for is
cleaning malware where go into some of the temporary
folders and attempt to delete files.

So, next I go here and try to delete this file below
but Windows reports.. Cannot delete this file because
it's being used by another person or program. So,
I tried right-clicking and Who Lock me?.., but nothing
happens.

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\~DFB0D8.tmp

Any idea what's happening here?

Try that file unlocker I posted a while back ... it works!

I just tried it on a file in my folder.. \Temp
It was able to delete the locked file but then Windows Explorer automatically
ended and the system rebooted/restarted. Everything seems normal upon restarting.
Hmmmm, very interesting.

The topic, "Is it safe to all delete files in.. C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp", has been discussed many times on the Interent. I once heard someone
say to delete all files except for ones dated with the current date. No other explanation,
but it seems like good advise after my little exercise above. However, I'd still delete such
a file if I thought it was connected to malware.
