I'm looking for a new hard drive to get for my computer. I'm going to be transferring VHS to DVD (with probable editing) as well as other video editing for a different project, so I would like a very spacious hard drive. I was looking at this WD SATA II 320 GB with 16 MB cache (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822136003), but then I found a Seagate with perpendicular recording SATA II 320 GB w/ 16 MB cache and NCQ (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148140) (which I believe the WD has, but I'm not positive).
They are nearly the same price, but would the perpendicular recording offer any benefits for me (speed or reliability)? From reading about perp. recording, it seems that there are less moving parts and higher density, so would this increase speed and reliability? All my other HDDs have been from WD, but I might go to Seagate for this one.
