I tought you folks might be interested in a post I just put on the RBL BBS.
Here it is:
I just got a new PC. Downloaded and installed Space Ace IV. Entered my registration information CORRECTLY and it will not accept it. E-mailed RBL, and got a "automatic" reply. I am NOT paying the fee for another license.

Rich:
If I am, I don't know what. You remember Oubliette. All the registered information is in there. I have tried copy and paste, making sure there are no leading or trailing spaces. I have tried typing the characters in, double and triple checking and each time ending up with the same results.
CCleaner is a good product. I'll use that. I am NOT saying Space Ace is not a good product. It does a nice job and RBL should be proud of it. The conversation with him got totally out of hand. I'm sorry it happened but the attack was NOT on him (even after this incident, I like the man and respect his knowledge). Certain things should have never been said by either of us or they should have been reworded.

Yes Sam and I am using Oubilette now thanks to you...but I still believe something is wrong...however as you know I suggested a move on to CCleaner anyway as it is a more current program.

OMG Sam I am so sorry,I just read that idiotic post over there.... now you know what I was trying to tell you and others ...where is it written that we all need to bow down and kiss that pompous ass for all of what he has done for us all the time. This is a sad day for forums and Mods in general to read such an incredible assault on the part of a forum owner which he then tries to justify by feeling a need to defend himself from your obviously frustrated situation, that I might add occurrs there all the time with that product. That goes against every rule of internet forums, does not belong in public ever...and you do realize that final remark about users being at fault makes a point towards his superiority, and has no place once again on a forum. That is right up there with Paltalk users "have no teeth" and "drive red rusty Chevy's"...and you are "my band of renegades" according to Gerald Moran yet! Yikes!
bbs.rblevin.net "Goodbye Space Ace" 6-25-06 folks go read it...can't give you a real url as that ancient software won't allow it!!!!

I wrote the one note where I said to him "There is no neet to go ballistic" . I then went to bed. You know how it is when you're laying in bed, your mind is still on overtime. After about 3/4 of an hour, I came back in to write a public apology to him,. My email attention was not focused on him. Then I read his strong reply. That did it. No apology, no Space Ace

Sam I understand completely but thinking over this whole thing, I just realized I have never seen a forum moderator almost demand attention and thanks for providing information to someone who posted a question on the forum asking a question. And no one ever said they don't appreciate that help at all, that just jumped out of left field. Who would think anyone would even remember such a thing, never mind bring it up as a defense from an "imagined attack" on anothjer issue.

Seems like a simple problem that got way out of hand.
It's too late for this issue, but if all members of
this BBS would like to read some words of wisdom, it
may help to avoid problems in the future.

I enjoy both forums and don't want to be banned on either BBS. I did find the thread response very INTERESTING.

RBL must have removed the topic - I looked for the subject line that Sam gave and could not find it. So I went to Search and the last posting about Space Ace was in MAY!
I could understand his "editing" the text or maybe even deleting a posting that got personal - BUT to delete possible issue, situation, and possible solution is really within his usual demeanor (kind of reminds me of Bush W - "any comments are acceptable - as long as they AGREE with mine" LOL).
I hope you weren't banned now from his site Sam. He does have a history of doing that with others.

You are right, the entire thread is gone.
The good news is that he did not 'freehold' Sam's logon.

Rich:
Did you see my very last post on the board, the one that I posted after 10 PM? I just went to his BBS and guess what, the complete subject including all of the responses were removed.
I'm surprised I am still able to get up there. I thought he would drop my name from the Approved List like he has done to other people.
At this point, I am going to leave well-enough-alone. I got my point across. I was willing on that public forum to apologize because he took it personally. After I read his final post, then he was attacking me not my post. Screw him!!!

I did Sam, and now I have to believe as I have all along that someone, possibly even him, read our thread here and that caused them to remove the entire thread over there. Honestly I cannot see any other explanation.

You know I just posted something in a PM on another forum to a user who PM'd me asking for help, and here in essence is something Sam alluded to with RBL but didn't specifically say, and that is, why so many of us participate in internet tech forums, that RBL doesn't seem to understand. Researching a subject for someone else, has to make you grow in your knowledge as well. We don't do it as a favor to someone we don't know, we do it to benefit all and the byproduct is making our own knowledge grow as well. I am living testimony to that. How can anyone be a forum moderator for so many years and not understand that?.
"Good Morning,
You assumptions are pretty much on target and I do run a pc repair business which has been part time for about 4 years and am trying to become established full time.
My participation in forums is more or less remembering my "neediness" a number of years ago and realizing that through helping others, we ourselves learn and gain from the process.
I devote a few hours a day to public forum help and while I will not deal with people on an idividual basis because my participation is meant to help all, I could suggest if frustrated that you might want to post on my forum as well as I have a small tightly knit group of professionals, who are expert in many fields beyond what you might see on a large international forum as at times it can be so hard to get someone's attention you need.
We also have a Wed night Paltalk Chatroom where we do work one on one with users, unique from what you will see in any other forum (9PM EST weekly and explained on forum site), that also could be of interest to you.
I am in now way suggesting you leave here at all, this is a marvelous forum, but maybe add us if you feel we offer another more specialized alternative as well.
www.kickenhardware.net/forum (http://www.kickenhardware.net/forum) check us out!"

Sam, it's a shame you don't have a copy of your exchange with RBL. It would come in handy the next time he denies he ever deletes non-inflammatory posts! The last time he denied that to me, I quoted the posts he deleted. He ignored or was too outraged to notice the quotes, or was too chicken to retract his denial.
Lucky us, Sam! It must be that old ethnic thing again. Maybe he likes paesanos. :) The last time I looked, there was no "freehold" on my logon either
I'm very saddened by the whole situation with RBL. Our boards could complement each other; and if he'd grow up, they could even compliment each other. What a waste of talent! Those seeking help are the collateral damage.
Lina
P.S. And, Sam, you are one of the most courteous and "nice" members I know. I would question my own behavior in any negative exchange we would possibly have!
So I'm glad you read the situation correctly. It's him--not you.

Much as I hate one word additions or posts on forums...I have to second everything you say here Lina!!!!
