I think I got myself in trouble again:

Scenario:
Using Acronis True Image, I created the "Rescue" environment on CD and wanted to test them out. After rebooting with the CD, and the Acronis screen came up, I had no mouse control.

I wrote a support ticket to Acronis and they replied to "Disable Legacy Support" and try again. I did and had the same result.

I wanted to Enable Legacy. I rebooted, hit the DEL key (to get into the Bios) and the boot process went right into the windows startup. No BIOS screens were shown.

How do I get it back???

Thanks,
Sam

Sam,

The system uses the F2 key to enter BIOS (if your talking about the new system).

Dan:
Yes, I am using the new system. I physically turned the power off and then back on constantly tapping the F2 key. It did not get me into the BIOS screens. The result was: a dark screen for a few seconds (this is normal) then the next screen was the first screen indicating Windows is starting up. It's a black background with the words "Windows XP' and has a little progress bar underneath the words.

The system does reboot and everything seems to be normal.
The problem is, I know in the future, I will need access to the BIOS and I would like to fix the problem soon before I really need that.

Instead of tapping the F2 key, try holding it down after a complete shutdown and power on.

I got the same results -- no BIOS screens.

I'm going into google to see if I can find any resolution. If anyone has a fix, please let me know.

Hey folks:

Before I do it, I want to ask--Do you think it would help if I reloaded the BIOS?

Any drawbacks except for losing BIOS current setting?

Well, it turned out not to be the BIOS. Apparently when Acronis told me to change the USB Legacy to Disable, It affected the keyboard, mouse and driver.

I first put on a standard PS2 keyboard--booted and was able to get into the BIOS. I did change the USB Legacy back to Enable.

Then I placed by other keyboard on the PC, of course disconnecting the PS2 keyboard. Booted and still could not get into the BIOS.

Via Control Pane/Add Remove programs, I removed the Logitech Keyboard and Mouse software, re-installed and now things are working fine.

You guys are turning me into a hardware person.

Mouse software is always a nightmare and I never use it. If the mouse won't work without it, I would return the mouse. Keyboard too unless there are power access keys and then you have no choice. I also think usb mouse or keyboard are "kiss of death" also, especially when doing installs or bios changes.
Sam Acronis Rescue disk has problems with certain mouse and keyboards...I always used Ps2 mouse with Rescue disk.
