I just got off the phone with Office Depot about the
XP Home Upgrade I bought from them on June30th.
I was told by an Office Depot person that they could not deliver XP Home to me because it was discontinued. They wanted me to go for the next version or XP Pro at $199.
I couldn't believe my ears when she said it was discontinued and they wouldn't be getting any more..

Xp Pro OEM version $139

Also consider installing a pirated version of Win XP and then try to validate
it at the MS site...http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/
They will report you have a pirated version and offer you a conversion kit
where you receive via emal a valid product key and they mail you a CD via
postal mail. For Win XP Pro this kit costs $149 so I expect win XP Home
would be less.

I thought that right away but since I had a deadline for the rebate I wasn't going to make a stink. I even asked
about the local store has them and was told they are different from the online Office Depot. Thie way it was just cancelled and everything is back to square one.
The only reason I purchased it was that it was $100 with a box of paper clips and I had a $20 off $100 coupon with a $60 rebate. So I would have got a box of paper clips and XP Home for $24 with the tax. That's the only reason I'm disappointed. I held back from laughing when she said XP Home was discontinued because she seemed like a nice lady and wished me a wonderful day.
Ain't I nice....
