If you are trying an upgrade forget it it is a nightmare. Run full install and use dual boot.....

So jellous! If only games worked better on Linux. Or I had CDs and could install inside VMware.
A curse on OEM

dudeking: thanks for posting that fix. It's a bit odd that fdisk worked where Vista failed.
Tortanick: Try it the other way around: install VMware and have virtual Linux machines. Then you can play games whenever and don't need so many partitions.

But saying that my manual dual boot is working well :D
Hard drive cage out of the case and just swap around wires, better than any Grub!!!

But then if I get a virus I lose Linux and Windows, the whole point of VMware XP inside linux is too get games working with a secure outside layer. However its not a perticualy good solution, emulators never are.
VMwared linux within windows has two uses: Distro testing and secure browseing

Well, I'm settled, I have a dodgy XP install for games, had to pay £5 to phone M$ to get it acctivated and SUSE for every thing else, will be fedora as soon as I can get it.
