The following rules are guidelines for using the Kicken Hardware Forum. These rules were designed merely to give users guidelines for conduct while participating on this Forum. The Administration, in its discretion has final say as to the specific action to be taken, if any, for violations of rules. Further, the Administration reserves the right to close or delete any thread or post that it deems unacceptable for any reason, regardless of whether such thread or post violates a specific rule or rules. Keep in mind that our goal is to provide useful technical support in a friendly environment, which is how we will think when evaluating any post or thread, or the conduct of any member. NOTE: Use of this site and any information contained within it indicates your acceptance of our Rules and regulations
We Need Your Help
If you believe that a user has broken any of these rules, click the "Report Thread" button on that particular thread (it’s a red triangle with an exclamation mark in the top margin of a post). Please be as descriptive as you can be in describing exactly what you feel is wrong and the address (URL) of the offending thread (if applicable).
P2P Instructions - The purpose of P2P is to illegally trade copyrighted material. We do not support the use of P2P networks and any threads requesting help for them will be closed. This includes Kazaa, Bearshare, WinMX, and the like. You are free to discuss it on our site (and please visit StealingIsIllegal.com (http://www.stealingisillegal.com/)), but we will not allow information on how to use them to be provided on KH.
Multiple Postings - It is simply not acceptable to post your question more than once, or to post it in more than one forum. Choose the forum that your question or post best fits in, and place it there and only there. If, after posting, you feel it should be in another forum, use the "Report Thread" button at the bottom of the post margin and we'll move it for you. We also reserve the right to move posts to other forums and we will delete duplicates.
Spamming/Advertising - Users cannot post advertisements of any sort in any forum. This includes products, services, or web sites from which you'd directly or indirectly benefit in any way.EXCEPTION would be the Promotions Forum where you are passing on great deals or weekly buys that will benefit everyone.
Signatures - When posting a useful response, you may include your own web page (or that of your company) in the signature of your message. However, this does not precede other rules.
Offensive Reference/Text/Images in Signature – Information provided in your Signature should not be offensive or derogatory in general or to any member specifically, such as attributing a quote to a member.
Crude or Rude Intent – KH Forum is a community of users helping users and should be completely free of any profanity and vulgar language. There is absolutely no excuse for being rude to another user.
Irrelevant and/or Inflammatory Postings - While we certainly want to encourage productive and useful debate relating to any topic or issue, posts that are made for the purpose of arguing or debating, and are potentially inflammatory, or irrelevant to the original post are not allowed.
Intentionally Harmful Advice - In the same way, this is a place to help people, not harm them. This offense applies when administration suspects that a user has intentionally posted harmful advice. Telling someone to reformat their hard drive when they have a problem with Outlook Express is really not acceptable behavior.
Impersonation - This applies when administration suspects a user of misrepresenting their identity, whether to the web site in general, or to another user. This includes single user registration to KH Forum where multiple user identities and accounts are strictly forbidden.
Thread Hijacking – Posting questions about problems you are having in the middle of someone else’s post, and thereby taking away the emphasis from the original poster is strictly forbidden.In such instances a user needs to start their own post and Moderators should break apart and list separately any such postings as they find them or are notified of them.
Please try to keep on topic in any particular thread and not side track a posting way off into another area, without rather starting a new post, and then realize a Moderator should spot these and start separate threads wherever possible themselves.
Threats/Harassment - This would be threats of bodily harm or other harassment from a user, whether by email or on the forum, as determined by the administration of course are strictly forbidden, and will be answered with site banishment for the user or users involved.
Other Illegal Activities - As you might expect, we don't want anything illegal going on here. Users cannot post hacks, cracks, pirated software, or anything of the like. Furthermore, we do not allow instructions on how to complete illegal activities, such as pirating. Please don't ask for advise on using illegal software, as it will be removed.
We encourage you to contact Moderators if you feel there are issues in any particular thread. We would prefer you do that rather than try to mediate issues with other users yourself. In other words please leave moderation to the Moderators.
