Hi Guys

Can anyone tell me exactly what Powertoy is? in my add/remove, I have a few progs and the names are preceded by the words Powertoy.

When opening the support link, it appears they are all m/s progs.

I like to remove all I dont need so will await your reply with interest, I have now removed Windows Messenger

Power Toy is a marketing name microsoft put in front of a range of programs that give you greater control over Windows.

I think that power toys make changes to other parts of the system, rather than store changes internally so its perfectly safe to remove them. However since I have only ever used one I'd wait for someone else to back me up on this.

Well I have always used many of the functions of tweak-ui which is one of the Power Toys myself and there are some very useful functi0ons of others. They are safe to remove but honestly I would learn how to use them and keep them.

Just remember that Powertoys aren't supported by Microsoft, but there are some useful ones, especially TweakUI as Rich mentioned.

At the link, there's a listing of Microsoft Powertoys. Uninstalling them should be no problem, although as Rich said, you should try to learn how to use them, as some are beneficial.
