I wonder if Larry (Casey) has been faced with a similar situation and how he resolved it.

I do a quite a few rebates for groceries and sundries. A telephone call to the manufacturer has always produced a full refund on the few occasions I've been dissatisfied with a product and had no UPC, quality-control data, or receipt because I had sent them in for a rebate.

What's your experience with computer hardware and software returns if you have no receipt or UPC?

Also, will they accept it if you have a digital photo or scanned a UPC? I've done both when I send in a rebate just in case.

PI if you bought this from Newegg you can go to their
web site and they have a history of what you purchased from them. That's better then a UPC code. Just get a copy of your receipt from their site and ask for an RMA number. I haven't had to ask for much from them but they always tried to accommodate me.Apply for a RMA number and you will see what you have to do..

I treat online purchase like important data and OS images: I save each receipt (invoice-like page with thank you and confirmation # that appears after you click on Purchase Now) to a Receipts folder on my local disk, then include it in my daily data backup (not to mention that all data is safely tucked inside each Acronis image). In the file name for the saved page I include shorthand for product description, site purchased from, and warranty info if not one year. Sorting the saved html pages chronologically allows me to delete any receipts no longer needed.
