Best source for free videos [especially "music" videos] on the net

http://youtube.com/

You can search there for any video old and new, so far I have gotten a lot of music videos from the 50s to present and I am talking original stuff from American Bandstand, Flip Wilson, Soul Train, Ed Sullivan, Andy Williams e.t.c, I also got lots of clips from Classic Sesame Street, know how great is is to see the original "Mr.Hooper"? Or see Ernie and the "Boogie Woogie Sheep"? Brings back lots of memories, just run your search fro whatever videos/clips you're interested in. Now, to save those videos go to

http://keepvid.com/

You will see a green bar at the top with 2 slots, paste the URL from the Youtube page showing the video you want into the slot on the left and from the drop-down menu on the right, select "Youtube", when the video loads, right-click then "save as" and there you go. Only problem here is that you have to give the videos the extension "flv" and either use the FLV player from Keppvid or I can link you to other players that have much better playback features like volume normalization, video enhancing e.t.c. Please note that as far as I know there is nothing illegal here about these sites or downloading the videos, they are not for sale, members share what they have and I haven't seen any warnings anywhere that this is illegal.

If you guys need any help with anything here, feel free to ask, so go walk down memory lane!

p.s.You can convert the flv video files to avi or whatever formats if you prefer.

vlc
This free player will play most types of files (except real, for which 'real alternative' can be used), flv. files are no problem for vlc

Any way to download the videos from those sites?

The guys from videohelp found a way, using Firefox browser, you go to the site and start the video playing. You right-click on the page and select Unplug from the popup menu. Unplug presents a page of links, showing you the most likely to have your video. Unplug shows them all, and you download the one you want via Keepvid, have fun!

mikehende, well I now understand why I made this mistake, I thought that this was the first page of the thread, and only saw this:

so first I offered your solution forgetting that it was you that originally suggested it, and then when I realised my mistake I thought that you meant that keepvid.com didn't work with BM's sites from what I saw of the first post in the second thread

best I say nothing since then, but I mean well
