I use SUSE sometimes, but I don't think I've gone on a page with flash/sound in FF on it before. I found something here (http://thomer.com/howtos/sound_in_firefox.html), but that's about the best I can do. It seems many have the problem, but few have answers. :( Are you using KDE?

No, Gnome.

Thanks for that link, I'll give it a try.

/etc/mozilla-firefox/mozilla-firefoxrc

I can't find that??

In Ubuntu, FF is installed in /etc/firefox/firefoxrc. Just look around in /etc.

/usr/lib/firefox/

I can't find anything in /etc
And in /usr/lib/firefox/ I cannot find the file that needs editing.
There is no firefoxrc...

Try searching for 'firefoxrc' once.

Says Unable to connect to search service.

I'll try it in root 2seconds.

Not sure why that's happening, Dudeking; many seem to have this problem. I, personally, hate SUSE. Other than XP, I use centOS Linux (based on Red Hat) ...hoping I'll be able to get a Mac in the near future :suspicious: The only reason I'm still using Windows is because practically all my clients have XP.

So do I need to be looking for another distro?
Any recomendations? I never liked Red Hat much...

Come back to Ubuntu? I've heard good things about Easy Ubuntu.

So do you just add that to Ubuntu after the install?
I will do that I think, not sure to use 32 or 64bit, are there lots of 64apps out there?

The only thing that put me off Ubuntu was the horrible easy installation.
But, I can't live much longer with this 'naf' SuSE distro.

Sorry, but I don't think I can help with your flash/firefox/SUSE problem. :( SUSE is great once you get it to work, but I've had graphics problems with it. I thought my new computer would help since it had something other than integrated graphics, but it didn't.

I like Ubuntu as well. I would probably use 32-bit. Just add the multiverse and universe repositories there is more free software than you could ever try to use. I notice that now you can do it in the installer app instead of uncommenting a few lines. Ubuntu is certainly headed in a more simple, user-friendly direction.

As said, give Ubuntu a try. If you're interested, a great book to look into is "Beginning Ubuntu Linux" by Kier Thomas. Comes with an installation CD and covers a lot.

I can't see what you have against the installer (unless its the partitoner) The only customiseation its missing comparied to others is: partitioning properly, choice of gnome/KDE/other and choice of Apps.

The gnome... is chosen before hand with ubuntu, kubuntu, etc. The apps are easily fixed with apt-get.

And yeah, easy ubuntu is a program you install afterwords. It sets up flash, MP3, MIDI, Java and more with a few clicks.

I couldnt get easy ubuntu working.
Kept getting package errors.
I don't really like the way ubuntu does things, I want to try fedora, if I can ever get my hands on a copy.
I don't like the way you install from with in the Live CD, its userfriendly but still, also the boot loader setup is rubbish, I sets GRUB up with XP and Linux, but it leave XP set to boot, so when you boot up it boots of the XP drive not linux.

You can change the boot order from within Ubuntu. You could try looking up the package errors on Ubuntu's forums or ask for help if you need some. There are a ton of people there who know quite a bit about Ubuntu. It was the first forum I ever joined. My first question wasn't answered (another user posted that he/she had the same problem so I assume others thought I was being helped), but I eventually got it myself.

I guess I have just gotta stick it out with a distro.
I liked suse but there were a few little bugs with it e.g. Flash..
The only reason I said it was crap was because on an other forum I visit, ozzu a web design forum, I posted about my problems with suse and they all said change distro and said don't go to ubuntu its crap...

I guess I'll give it one last go...
