I need to edit and remake some pdf files, and I was going to purchse CutePDF as per a few recommendations form fellow forum members. However, I stumbled across a post by Rich M where he referenced using WordPerfect to alter or change pdf's http://kickenhardware.net/forum/showthread.php?t=2617&highlight=openoffice
What altering and changing can be done to pdf's? It seems that only pre-publishing options are available.

I just tried it for the first time. I opened a pdf using WordPerfect that came with Corel's Office X3. I edited it and published it to a new pdf.
I was looking for a Save As ... pdf option. That's what I expected, but that's not the way it works in this program. Use the Publish To ... command to make your new pdf.

Tony, when I try to open pdf's in wordperfect, I get the Conversion Utility come up with Unsupported File Format. PDF is not one of the file formats available on the drop-down list. Another pdf I tried to open caused this dialog box to pop up

I have WordPerfect X3 - I think a.k.a. v13. Like I mentioned previously, it's the one that comes with Corel's OfficeX3 suite.
Open WP, choose Open from File menu, navigate to a pdf file and it simply opens it. No questions asked.

Dale,
You won't find the price of X3 prohibited either - THIS IS ONE OF THE UPGRADES that I would suggest wholeheartedly!

Dale I was talking about Word Perfect X3 as everyone is telling you. I bought it for $49.99 on ebay BTW and I bought the Office Pro version.
