When you can get a new one DEPENDING on your usage for under $1k!
Even HP has been advertising some of their notebooks in the $800 area with just about everything you might want / need for the "average" user.

buying a used notebook is a crapshoot.
imho your better off buying a new low end unit.
there are some decent models with Sempron cpu's for around $400 at compusa.com, bestbuy.com, circuitcity.com

The ONLY one that I could think of that would be in the "selling" mood would be RichM :D
When I give up my computers (notebook OR desktops) they are ready for the trash dumpsters. I don't upgrade until I have no more umph in the ole boys (or girls - depending on how they act LOL)!
