The internet on my network keeps going off.
The network still works, but the internet will just go.
I will be able to see all the other computer and the modem and router, but the internet will be dead.

Modems IP is 192.168.1.1
Routers IP is 192.168.0.1
LAN Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
WAN Subnet Mask 255.255.255.255
Primary DNS Server 62.24.128.17

Any one got any Ideas?
The internet either comes back by its self after about 5minns or the router and modem are reset and it comes back.

Thanks:flame:

Try connecting one of your computers directly to the Internet connection. That will eliminate the router. If you still have problems, contact your ISP.

The IP from the modem, which should show in your router menu, is the IP you get assigned by the ISP, should not be a 192.168. number

Doug,

The modem COULD be handing off a 192.168.nnn.nnn ip IF it needs to be bridged to the router.

Comcast small business SMC cable modems hand off 10.1.1.nnn which needs to be setup on the LAN side routers. Another thing is removing the NAT on the modem so that it doesn't try to resolve internet vs LAN requests when accessed by the internal LAN router.

But what makes this strange and is probably a modem gone bad, is that he get a timing issue while on the internet. Timing out from inactivity is one thing - but it sounds like he is active when he gets disconnected.

I'm 100% that its not the ISP, its been off all today and only came back when I turned the modem and router off and then turned them back on.
Yes I am 100% acctive when I get kicked, this is really annoying and the rest of the family are taking it out on me as there computers go as well.

I was told this....Try changing all of your IP addresses to 192.168.0.x and make sure you change your DHCP server settings to the same 192.168.0.x range.

Shall I?
