POP3, ever heard of google Mike. :D
From wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_Office_Protocol
SMTP, not SMPT, usually easy reference to this one is, Send Mail To People, but the real name is Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
And last but not least: IMAP4 or what ever the other number is:

Pete, I think you may be glad to know that I finally got a handle on this POP3, email client e.t.c thing! Maybe now I can go back and give Eudora a second shot?

Sometimes I visit sites which have email links and when I click on those links, Outlook Express opens up, is there anything I can do to have my regular yahoo mail open when I click on such links?

The links you click reply on your machine to determine what opens them. There are 'mail to:' links which are designed to open your email client and insert the address and subject line automatically. I don't think you can get them to work with a web-based mail system.
Anyway if you want to try - go to Internet Options, either via IE or the Control Panel and check to see what's listed under the 'Programs' tab.

Outlook Express is what is listed there.

That's why OE opens when you click on a 'mail to' link.
Is Yahoo in the drop down list? (I doubt it though).
Sorry Tony, posted at the same time.

No, Yahoo is not in the drop down list, only
Windows live mail
MSN Explorer
Outlook Express

Those are email clients - you can't fix this. When you click on these links, you need to recognize that they are 'mail to' links and they won't work with Yahoo mail. If you want to sent and email to that address, just hover over the link and take note of it's intended recipient. Then bring up your Yahoo mail and enter that address manually.
