I'm referring to the DOS version of Peachtree.
Can anyone tell me the database Peachtree Dos uses? I heard it was c/tree but at this site, http://www.aicpa.org/pubs/jofa/sept1999/collin.htm it says BTrieve
I need to find a way I can access this data and extract the contents so I can put it in another database format. I will probably use MS Access.

Which version of DOS? I used to have a DOS version and it may even be possible that a Windows version would have read/convert the data?
I'll check for you later today, but I also believe it was BTrieve. I vaguely recall a DBF export if you can still get to the engine. What do you need? Lists or transactions? What are you trying to do?

Fred: It's Version 13. The situation is: Where my wife works, they are using Peachtree Complete Accounting System (DOS Version). Third part updates were written for them. When the Windows version of Peachtree came out, they were told the updates were NOT going to be included and will NOT be converted
I have written several applications for them using VB6. However, there is still a double-effort going on because they are entering the basic data twice (in Peachtree and in my apps). I want to eliminate Peachtree and do everything only once.
I remember about 10 years go, there was a processor that would change one DB format into another and I use to have it but I can NOT remember it's name. DBF might be it.
The help is greatly appreciate.
Thanks,
Sam

Sam,

From what I surmised, you will be able to transfer lists (customers, vendors, etc.) using the Export Wizard in PT, but transactions are another matter. At best you will get summary data or a trial balance on date certain, but not the detailed transactions themselves.
I have the same issues in QuickBooks, but have found several 3rd party programs that transfer transaction details.
Good luck!
