There are times Comcast can have the slowest DNS servers going.
The major problem is the time (often days to weeks) it can take to re-populate DNS servers after any major failure, outage, or work done on the backbone DNS servers.
While this weeks internet behavior does not appear to be a DNS problem, that last power outage in NY rippled all through the web for well over a week.
