What the Bleepety-bleep-bleep-bleep is going on here? The wife's Desktop pc does not power up all of a sudden, it's a Dell Dimension 2400, all I am seeing is an orange-colored light blinking, this light is on the left side of the Power button light and has a strange symbol underneath it, I've got to give this one priority guys as the missus will be home soon:eek:

Check for lose wires, and don't forget the inside of the case

Also pull as many peripherals as you can off the machine - printers, scanner, mouse (you don't need a mouse to boot, but you do need a keyboard).

THANK GOD!! The missus just walked in, I didn't say anything, she went to her pc, unplugged the power cable for a few minutes then turned pluggeg back in an presto, I asked her why she did that and she said the orange-colored light is a warning light which shuts down the system so the power has to be reset, WHEEEW:D

Lesson to be learned here is that a large percentage of computer
problems can be solved by simply shutting down the computer
and restarting. This goes for all devices connected to the
computer too.

I always tell people, when something is not acting right with
the computer or even the software, the first thing to do is
shut everything down and leave it down for 30 to 60 seconds.
Switch on the peripherals first and then the computer.
