Band of Brothers is a great choice; one of the few movies or series that I watch again and again. Another favorite of mine is John Ford's "The Searchers". It'a an amazing movie of obession and racism and respects its audience to be intelligent enough to fill in the gaps. It was only a few years ago that I finally saw the whole film, but I catch it whenever I can.

I play Electric Dreams at least twice a year. I follow that with War Games, Them, and Fantastic Voyage.

Ladykillers the original or that Tom Hanks remake? I never caught the remake, myself. Oh Brother, great choice. Speaking of Coen Brothers, Miller's Crossing was a classic: Albert Finney blasting away with a Tommy Gun to the tune of "Danny Boy"; priceless.

I didn't know there was an original to Ladykillers.

Coen brothers films are simply brilliant. I'm going to check out the other ones you posted.

IMDb profile

The Ladykillers is a 1955 British film. It is one of a series of classic post-war Ealing Studios comedies.

Directed by Alexander Mackendrick, 'The Ladykillers' stars Alec Guinness, Cecil Parker, Herbert Lom, Peter Sellers, Danny Green, Jack Warner and Katie Johnson. Frankie Howerd has a cameo role as an agitated market fruit seller along with Kenneth Connor as a taxi driver. Watch out also for a young Stratford Johns (Charlie Barlow from Z-Cars) as the driver of the lorry that gets robbed.

American William Rose wrote the screenplay, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Writing Original Screenplay and won the Bafta Award for Best British Screenplay. He claims to have dreamed the entire movie and merely had to remember the details when he awoke.

In 2000, readers of Total Film magazine voted 'The Ladykillers' the 36th greatest comedy film of all time.

A radio adaptation of the film was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on January 13, 1996.

Rak,

I really want to see the original Ladykillers. No luck in finding it yet.

Last night I watched the first half of Miller's Crossing. Compared to the other Coen films I've seen, Miller's Crossing isn't what I expected. It's the type of film that I'd need to watch more than once to really appreciate.

Finney and the shoot out scene...priceless indeed.
