One of the main points and purpose of our forums is to keep our members advised of the latest computer news in the various forum topics we have established.
I'm sure many of you vist many interesting sites with valuable information that may be of interest to our members.
Please remember to post those articles and links so we all can share them.
We have quite a few members who are regular contributors to the "pot" and quite a few who are just passive readers.
If it fits the forum topic and you think it worthy... share!
Remember that search engine rankings for our site depend on the number of links to other sites and articles. This increases our ranking and exposure in the search engines which in turn can draw new members.

As most people know, dBarrow does an excellent job of locating
intersting articles for us to read. Doug, does something that sets
KH Forums above most of the rest. He always quotes a few
interesting excerpts from the article and then posts the link
so you can read it in its entirety if you so choose. This is an
excellent example to follow.
To me there's nothing worse than someone posting a link
with an enticing title and you follow that link only to find
you have no interest in the topic. Quoting an excerpt helps
to avoid that annoyance factor.
Thank you doug, for all the research you do to find those
articles and going the extra mile to post an excerpt.
So many times I just read the excerpt and that satisfies
my curiosity on the topic. A real time saver!

Hi,
As a regular member here, it's my opinion that you don't need to
spend a lot of time editing or extracting excerpts. It's great to have
that, but at minimum yuo should breifly state what you think is
interesting about the link you'd like to post and share with others here.
fleamailman, imagine if someone walked up to you and just handed
you a printed article to read without saying a word except, "Here,
read this." That's kind of rude, correct? However, if the same person
said "Here, read this, it's an interesting article about fleas in the mail",
you could then decide whether you'd like to read it or not. See, it's
all about being considerate to the reader. :)

Think of it as a quick summary. Enough to get your attention and see if you want to follow the link to the full article.
Editing is REQUIRED as you never want to copy a full article verbatim (because it's so easy to do) which may run afoul of copyright laws. If an author is listed for the original post, include his byline as well. If really unsure of the copyright policy of the website, just summarize in your own words.
It's a rather gray area. While many sites appreciate being linked to, as it increases their traffic, some will go after you if you steal their info verbatim and they feel you are infringing on their copywrites.
Just enough to draw people's attention to what you want them to read but not enough to be accussed of appropriating it.
A *Comment of your own indicates that you are referring to the original article or part thereof.
