KH Email/PM Notifications

It looks like the problem of no or delayed notifications
has been resolved.

I'm using Firefox and Outlook Express. They are finally
arriving in a timely fashion.:)

I had already read on the forum.

Well i've been receiving delayed emails between the todays emails. This one came in time though so i believe it's ok now. Maybe Internet traffic creates this, or Lina Yahoo server for me and you lol.

Something new just happened to me - I received an e-mail for a thread (my phishing e-mail thread) with a reply replying to a post that I didn't get an e-mail for but read previously. Now I just received an e-mail for the original post. :confused:
Sorry for the confusing words - Tortanick posted, I read it but didn't recieve an e-mail. BM posted and I received an e-mail. About an hour later an e-mail for Tortanick's post came. :dizzy:

Could this possibly be due to all the server traffic/use with the recent new members and growth of KH?

I seriously doubt that KH is the hold-up on these emails. There just is not the volume to challenge our host server. It is much more likely to be effected by Internet volume and routing. I have noticed Internet email can produce produce uneven results. Sometimes it can be almost instantaneous and other times there can be a significant delay (in hours). This evening I received two responses to a non-KH email about an hour before I received the initial email.

I do have a question, though. How come all other e-mails from other forums come nearly instantly? I had problems at one forum from which there are a lot of members, but others had the same problems (I think it was after an upgrade or something).

Actually it is most likely our server. We are not running on a dedicated server meaning we are sharing this server with many other websites. Thus there are times when there may be email delays. I have contacted the host and they are aware of the problem. I should be hearing back from them tomorrow to get an idea on what the problem is.

This is the only email from KH received this morning, maybe it came last night while i was asleep, i do also receive non KH mails properly.

Still a big problem with emails, they rarely come and are too old, but 1 kind of email is working i am sure about that, it's the registration email notification.
Noticed that because i changed and reversed back my email address in my options.
So i wonder why this works and not the others.

Update:

It's Wednesday, Sept 20. At 12:05 pm, I received 3 KH
email notifications dated Monday, Sept 18, 9:04 pm,
9:49 am, 10:43 am. Of course, I had already read the
posts on line.

Since joining there have been little hints dropped about posts in the Non Tech topics "cluttering" up the place. What on earth is going to happen if suddenly 50 or 100 new members decided to grace KH with their problems.. and their jokes.news and general comments....

Whats the real problem here.... I know when i joined i was told by Lina that males outnumbered females and she was glad to see a few more in KH
I believe the real problem here is this was a very male dominated forum and maybe a little bit of sexism is creeping in through the back door.......
I hope i am wrong though....

Yes!!! Todays post emails are coming properly.
It seems last 2 days ones are lost somewhere.
I am glad everything is working properly again.

No fingers crossed necessary. The server we used ended up getting "used" as an open relay from a spammer, so most emails that KH tried to send out had 20,000 emails before it to send out. They noticed it slightly before we did as their logs and monitoring apps detected issues and the issue should now be resolved.
