Vivienne posted this in reference to an exceptionally long
thread about Losing IP Thread.

So far so good! I shall keep an eye on it the next few days and hopefully this thread will be marked 'solved'. Is there a solved button somewhere??? Just getting ready. :-)

So, I wonder. What would be best for clarity and for our archives?

- Prune the thread and show problem and solution?

- Somehow mark it Solved, and leave the entire
thread alone? There may be a lot of learning steps in there
for you no matter what your computer proficiency level.

Yes, I am a great believer in pruning, refining, and leaving the result on view, since one only has to put yourself in the place of someone with a problem, and I believe in the end it is for those people that the post is left to see.

What I typically do on a long complex thread as the originator
of the topic, is to summarize the issue to explain just what
final solution was.

I was trying to follow that thread but frankly, I got lost towards
the end, and was left wondering what finally solved the problem.
A summary would definitely help to clear that up.

I think a "solved" button, or something similar, would be ou***anding! As said once before, I'm always eager to hear about results, so that, along with a brief summary describing the fix, would be fantastic.

I asked for one of these a while back, but on the grounds of it would help to see what threads still needed input when scanning throught the forum.
And the summery would be great, it would really help people out.
