Everyone,
I've just written a new article titled..
Which Verizon DSL Service should I get, 768 kbps or 3 mbps? (http://www.htworkshop.com/freeinfo_which_dsl_should_I_get.htm)

Now I'd like to add more information about using a VOIP
Internet telephone service such as VONAGE with 768 DSL.

I spoke with Vonage sales and they told me their system will work on
any connection 90 kbps or faster, but the system works better with
a faster connection. I could not get them to explain to me what
"better" means as far as 768 kbps vs 3 mbps are concerned.

Does anyone here have experience with VOIP on a 768 DSL connection?

I'd like to know the practical aspects, both negative & positive,
of running VOIP on 768 kbps DSL versus 3 mbps DSL.

Pete,
I have an ex-business partner who is using Vonage on top DSL and he really wishes he had never moved his business phone number there. Half the time he can't hear anything and he is now working on moving back to landline with the number as most phone companies are more than compeitive with decent service besides.

My next door neighbor went with Comtragic phone over the internet service and ever since they did I have comtragic sub-contractors in my yard at least twice a month servicing their cable connection.

VOIP seems to be a smoking mirror for the home user. T-1 and FIOS clients never seem to have the issues that Vonage, Cavtel, Covad, or any of the others that advertise do. But then T-1 and FIOS are from the ground up designed to be VOIP services with dedicated csu/dsu routers in place.
