PC Mechanic Tip of the Day: Control N

Control N

When browsing the Internet, sometimes it is essential to have two browser windows running at once. As opposed to going through the hassle of opening a new browser window by clicking on desktop icon or quick launch button, there is an easier way which doesn't require the use of the mouse.

Simply hold down the Control button (ctrl) and press the N key.

You're welcome, BM. . I'm finding that tip handy.

I've learned quite a few things via the PC
Mechanic newsletter! And I would hate to admit
how much I've re-learned (I forget some things so
easily).

I highly recommend the program below.
It automatically maximizes any new IE windows you open up.
It's fully functional and they only ask for donations to further develop it.
After IE7 comes out (Oct 2006?) with it's tabbed browsing, I doubt that
there will be much use for IE Maximizer. ---pete---

IE New Window Maximizer

This program will automatically maximize new Internet
Explorer and Outlook Express windows.

Great tip, Lina. Also, you may want to note that if you have the Firefox browser, you can press Ctrl+T to open a new tab.

How about that! Thanks, Ray.

Ctrl+T opens a new tab in Internet Explorer 7 as well. It's very useful, along with right-clicking links and selecting to open them in a new tab (or creating some other shortcut).
