Pretty nice monitor. And, it's the widescreen format.

What's the advantage of a wide screen? It seems to me that it can only be utilized with some games and/or wide screen DVD playback. Is that right?

If so, the disadvantage is that for 90% of the time, you're going to lose vertical display space as opposed to a 4:3.

It's a refurb and the regular price is 186.99
Not enough of a discount for me to buy a refurb.
LG is an up and coming brand, but would you buy it if it was branded Goldstar?
Remember that microwave you bought in 1983?
See here:

Maybe it's *Life's Good* now but it was *Lucky Goldstar* :)

I actually looked at the link. It's not a wide screen.

The Acer and Hanns from here (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?Recs=10&Nav=|c:170|&Sort=4) are better bets.

Wewll sorry I failed to notice the "recertified" however the rgular price refurb is $186, not the regular price of the monitor.Price is $299.

The image I saw at the link definitely depicted a widescreen monitor. However, the specs. don't refer to a widescreen product. I like widescreen and I'm not a gamer. I find the widescreen format better for spreadsheets and word processing. It's just my personal preference.

I stand corrected.
Not to pick apart your offering, but only to post a precaution when dealing with an unknown vendor (I've seen 3btech on Pricewatch only), run them through Reselleratings.

There really isn't a large enough sampling to make a fair judgement here.
In this case I would have to rely on a good word-of-mouth recommendation.

Who has been lucky, knock on wood, with internet purchases thus far.

jflan,
I work in the industry and am one of the founders of KH. I would not post a site I had no experience with and recommend buying something without first hand eperience with them. I have had about 12 purchases from them over the years with nothing but good to say about them. The products are excellent and they are one of the best places for great hard drive prices and ship quickly as well.

Yep, that's my recommendation.
I'll make a note of it.
Thanks.
